Thanks to the people who are behind the good news about the science and democracy forum at the WSF 2009! Hope this initiative will help to engage many scientists and technologists in the process of the social forum. I have forwarded the call to the members of Technology for Life (TEP), a Finnish NGO, and also personally endorsed the call on the site http://fsm-science.org/appel/

The nuclear science and the local democracy are very hot subjects right here and now. After yesterday's local referendum, my municipality will most probably be fusioned with Loviisa, a town on the North-Eastern shore of the Gulf of Finland. So this morning I kind of woke up in a new place. In my new home town, not less than 3 new nuclear power stations are presently being planned. And Loviisa already has 2 nuclear reactors since the days of the Soviet Union.

Which reminds me of an another Appeal - the Appeal to All Europeans To Prevent War Against Iran, see http://www.acdn.net/. I debated for a while with my conscience, and then I decided to sign that one, too.
